The dolphins and whales were engaged in a fierce war with one another. At the height of the battle, a small cod popped his head out of the waves to wade and said he would help to reconcile their differences. One of the dolphins replied with a jeer, “We would rather be destroyed in our own battle than accept help from a creature like you.”
