A monkey sat in a beech tree observing some fishermen, who were casting their nets into a river. After a while, the fisherman went home for dinner, leaving the ropes draped on a large rock along a nearby creek. The monkey descended from the treetops and tried to copy the fishermen. He clumsily entangled himself in the cords and drowned. With his last breath he spoke, “Serves me right, since I have never fished a day in my life.”
